Walter Thompson in an effort to delve into Americans' private lives and inner thoughts. Regional differences are highlighted. Overall, however, Americans are united in a yearning for strong, credible leadership in all institutions, the authors conclude. Some of the issues covered were important circa 1990 but have faded; others, such as terrorism, didn't make the pollsters' radar screen. Even if it's flawed in some respects, this is an interesting endeavor by advertising experts to probe the fundamental concerns of Americans. Probably only the private polling done by political parties has approached the scope of this project.
