Author Name Weller, Flora Title Birds of Indiana Binding Loose Leaf Stiff Wraps Book Condition Fair Jacket Condition No Jacket Type Ephemera Size 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Seller ID 003136 Unpaginated, about 40 pp. assembled loose leaf in a kraft paper-type cover, held together with raffia-type twine. This is a child's homemade scrapbook about birds, with notes handwritten in very neat, legible script, combined with 10 5-by7-in. color plates of various bird species plus 5 inserted "educational leaflets," 4 pp. each, from the National Association of Audubon Societies. No date, or clues about the date, or the child's hometown, but the neat script suggests perhaps 1940s or '50s or earlier. Includes a short biography of John James Audubon, perhaps copied from an encyclopedia. Cover has a line sketch of a bird, probably by the young authoress. Cover creased, frayed, starting to split at seam. Pages yellowed, and script is faded, but plates are still mostly bright and fresh.
