11 J. The Way to Become a Sensuous Woman
NY Lyle Stuart Inc 1970 21st Printing Cloth Very Good Good 8vo --8.25 in. Tall
192 pp. Dust jacket broken at corners, lightly crinkled, and stuck to cloth cover in a few places. Cover bumped at corners, blue cover ink has bled onto interior of dj. Text clean and bright, binding firm. A feminist best-seller of the 1960s, this ABC primer by a pseudonymous author (later identified as Joan Garrity with her brother as co-author) gives the basics of heterosexual sex from the woman's viewpoint. Narrated in a breezy, lighthearted way, the author's premise is that there is nothing sinful or disgusting about a woman enjoying her own body and that of her partner. Athough somewhat dated by contemporary standards, it does introduce readers to female masturbation with gusto, and dangles the prospect of achieving 10 to 25 orgasms in a single session. The book encourages a woman to spend "hours" in solo masturbation, saying it will help prepare her for a more satisfying session with a man. Lesbianism is mentioned just once or twice. Homosexual men are written off as a waste of time, and the author doesn't explore the potential of a bisexual partner.

12 Kelly, G. Lombard Sex Manual for Those Married or About to Be
Augusta, Ga. Southern Medical Supply 1948 3rd Edition Revised; 6th Printing Stapled Stiff Wraps Very Good No Jacket 12mo -- 7.5 In.
84 pp. Light soil and fading to covers. Text clean. Gift inscription to newlyweds on inside cover. Somewhat thumbed. Cover has lower corner crease. "Hosts of married couples are morons about sex." With this startling quotation as an opener, a University of Georgia professor of anatomy gives a frank and informal guide to sexual practice. While the author emphasizes there should be nothing shameful about sex, the title page states the booklet is distributed only by prescription for a dollar apiece. "Orders received direct from laymen without prescriptions will be returned to the senders." The manual is a quaint reminder of sexual attitudes that existed shortly after World War 2 as the first faint stirrings of women's liberation started seeping through American culture. Several illustrations provide cutaways of male and female genitalia and reproductive systems. Sexual relations are presented in a mostly clinical fashion, but the author does acknowledge that women as well as men have sexual desires that must be satisfied. However, he contends that twice a week is the recommended frequency to avoid "immediate or eventual harm to one or both of the individuals." He doesn't detail what problems over-indulgence might cause. Chapters deal with such subjects as use of a condom, need for lubricants, methods of birth control (as then existed, primarly condoms, rhythm method and questionable douches), frigidity, change of life (in both men and women), and sexual oddites, such as "caught penis" and priapism. Interesting the manual contains no mention of homosexuality. Cover notes that 130,000 copies were in print as of 1948, three years after the manual was first issues.

14 Lal, Kanwar The Cult of Desire: An Interpretation of Erotic Sculpture of India
DeLhi Asia Press 1966 First Edition Stated Cloth Very Good + Very Good Art Book 8vo -- 9.5 In Tall Lal, Darshan, Photographer
84 pp. essay, 19 pp. of notes on plates, 126 b&w glossy plates of sculptures. Red khadi-type cloth shows very little age. Dust jacket has some crinkling and soil on edges. Text is clean, very faint foxing on edges of endpapers. No markings. Scarce first edition. An Indian art specialist provides a general introduction to India's erotic temple sculptures, found mainly in middle and southern India. (Khajuraho, Konarek, Bhubaneshwar) Excellent photos give close-up details that an on-site visitor might miss because of poor lighting, weather erosion and elevated locations within temples. Excellent notes on the individual plates give the Hindu and Buddhist folklore and philosophy that inspired the graphic images, including fellatio, cunnilingus, bestiality and group sex. The essay is written in typical stilted British English found in Indian academia, but it is readable and not overly arcane. Understandable for westerners who may know little or nothing about eastern religions. Lal takes the view that the sculptures essentially convey a spiritual rather than an aphrodisiac message. He states: "...All these poses represent the various stages of sadhana -- of striving toward the spiiritual goal of release and of mergilng into the infinite."

Approx. 115 pages, coffee spots on rear cover, heavy spotting on front cover, previous owner's address label on inside cover. No markings in text. A saucy, humorous approach to cooking, but the erotica is confined mostly to the funny suggestive names given to the dishes, such as "horny hens" and "tongued tuna." 20 Patrick, John, Ed. In the Boy Zone
Sarasota, Florida Starbooks 1997 1877978620 / 9781877978623 2nd Printing Trade Paper Near Fine 8vo -- 8.5 In
528 pp., color cover photo and 1 inside b&w photo of partly nude male model. Nearly 40 short stories and articles about prostitution by young male hustlers. Some are written as erotica. Others are journalistic reports. The editor's premise is that not all hustlers are victims. In some cases, there are mutual benefits to the hustler and the john. The introduction includes material on Daytona Beach's Boardwalk, once considered a "combat zone" until urban renewal eliminated a beachfront park known for cruising. Boise, Idaho, and Manhattan also are discussed. A disclaimer notes that the material was written before the AIDS epidemic, and the editor recommends use of condoms and other safer-sex protection. Includes a 10-chapter "bonus book: titled "Getting Off: The Search for Orgasm." Contributors, besides Patrick, include Jesse Monteagudo, Grant Adams, John C. Douglas, James Wilton, Thom Nickels and several others.
