Gainesville University Press of Florida 2000 081301753x / 9780813017532 First Edition Trade Paperback Fine Anthology 8vo --9 in Tall
203 pp. Gift quality, appears unread. No markings or creases. This anthology showcases 21 short stories written mostly by academics in the 1990s and generally first published in literary journals. What these stories have in common, of course, is a Florida setting -- a Florida that is sinister, full of alligators, creeping plants, heavy clouds, noir cops, and con artists; it is the surreal spread of theme parks, condominiums, and strip malls; and it is a paradise -- lost, regained, and remembered -- of sea, sun, hammock, forest, and glade. Among the contributors: Frederick Barthelme, Jeffrey Greene, Alison Lurie, Jill McCorkle, Tom Chiarella, Patrick J. Murphy, Steve Cushman and Joy Williams.
