175 pp. Nearly new. An Orlando Sentinel review of the book was laid in front, leaving a yellowish acid shadow on the inside cover. Otherwise clean. Signed "Regards, Patricia Acton April 1989" on half-title page. Fascinating, detailed account of the lawsuit Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings faced after publishing "Cross Creek" in 1942. Zelma Cason, a former friend and neighbor of Rawlings, resented the way she was depicted in the memoir, and sued for $100,000. Cason won the case on appeal but with only nominal damages. The four-year legal battle left Rawlings tired and depressed, but later on she resumed friendship with Cason.

This is the 1977 edition of the AP stylebook, an alphabetical guide that has governed language usage and spelling at most US newspapers and other print media outlets for many decades. AP typically updates its stylebookevery few years, and now collaborates with UPI on a stylebook used by both wire services. This edition reflects maiinstream American life in the 1970s, when African-Americans were to be called Negroes, Latino was an unrecognized term, and "Ms." could be used only if was a woman's preference for her courtesy title. Profanity generally was taboo except for direct quotations, and a wire story containing such material had to be flagged "Editors: Language may be offensive to some." Al Fatah was the only Arab guerilla group listed.
