Very readable but he avoids over-writing, sticking to a factual account rather than speculation. Where the facts are sketchy or contradictory, he indicates so. A would-be Robinson Crusoe, Joe scaled peaks, watched wild animals, hunted and trapped, and roughed it in the1900-1930 period and later wrote about it for Boys Life magazine. Introduction and notes by James H Pickering of the University of Houston. Mills lived 1880 to 1935. Includes map of Longs Peak.
