265 pp., with historical b&w photos. Clean and lightly read, but textblock is cracked at the midpoint. All pages intact. No markings. Seventh reprint of a farm woman's personal journal originally published by Caxton Printers, Caldwell, Idaho in 1937. Mary Boynton Cowdrey edited the manuscript. Mrs. Dodge writes plainly but poignantly of the day to day challenges of life on a prairie farm in the 1880s, especially during blizzard conditions. Her first-person account tells of people freezing to death if they tried to walk a mile or two. In white stiff wraps, with front cover showing a woman's hand writing the title in orange-brown script.
