1 Goldman, Albert Ladies and Gentlemen -- Lenny Bruce !!
NY Random House 1974 5th Printing Cloth Very Good  Fair+
565 pp. Light fading along top edge of front cover. A 2-inch rip on rear panel of dj. and dampstain on lower front corner. No markings in text or endpapers. Binding firm. 8 pp. glossy b&w photos. A detailed, in-your-face biography of Lenny Bruce, whose definat profane political humor of the 1950s set the stage decades later for the x-rated monologues of Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Howard Stern and the many lesser lights such as Andrew Dice Clay. Although an overdose cut short his career at 40, Bruce's influence seemed to grow, not diminish, after his death. Goldman acknowledges he relied heavily on interviews conducted by journalist Lawrence Schiller.
