287 pp. Dark red imitation leatherette with gilt lettering and geometric Art Deco decoration used for modern novels in the International Collectors series. Previous owner's bookplate on front pasted endpaper, no other markings. Very little shelfwear, faint scuff mark on rear cover. Binding still tight. Ribbon marker. An erudite introduction by Malcolm Cowley summarizing the mixed literary accomplishments of Anderson. A map of Winesburg as frontispiece. This modern classic assembles tales of individual characters to illuminate the values and frustrations in a small American city circa 1920.
